Mondays, Moments, and Moving Forward, and Wishing for a BRAND DEAL

 There’s something sacred about carving out time that belongs just to you—and for us, that time is Mondays.

While we’re workamping at Willard Peak Campground, Mondays (and sometimes Sundays) are the only days we can truly step away. Otherwise, if our truck is seen on the property, it’s assumed we’re available—always ready to serve, always “on.” So we’ve made a promise to ourselves: Mondays are date nights. No exceptions.

Once our 5th wheel renovation is complete, we’re looking forward to reclaiming Sundays too. But for now, Mondays are our reset. Our pause. Our reminder of why we’re doing all of this in the first place.

Intersection Lessons from Willard, Utah

 We’re taking a short break from sharing about our 5th wheel remodel to talk about something that happened yesterday here in Willard.

The RV park we workamp at sits right at a busy intersection. From the picnic table, you can literally watch drivers blow through red lights, speed up instead of slow down, drive aggressively, and push well beyond the posted limit. It’s become a daily show none of us asked to subscribe to.

Yesterday was no different — except this time there were consequences. One vehicle ran the light, and another car was t-boned in the intersection. It happened fast. The sound alone was enough to make your heart jump.

Thankfully, no one was transported to the hospital. That alone is a blessing.

One thing I will say: the Willard Police Department was incredibly fast to respond. Within minutes, officers, investigators, and volunteer support staff had the scene secured. Traffic was managed efficiently, statements were taken, and the intersection was cleared in about an hour. It was impressive to watch professionals handle a stressful situation so smoothly.

But here’s the reality for us as RV travelers: when your RV is your home, accidents hit differently. We’ve seen far too many crashes across Utah — especially wrong-way driving accidents and even railroad-related collisions. Some road designs can be confusing, yes. But distraction and impatience are playing a huge role. Phones. Speed. Aggression. The “minimum speed plus 15” mentality.

There’s no such thing as a Sunday drive anymore.

Because of what we’ve witnessed — and yesterday’s crash being one more reminder — we’re making absolutely sure our 5th wheel is covered with the best insurance protection possible. When your RV is your house, your office, and your investment, you don’t cut corners.

Two Years at Willard Peak Campground — and Still Standing

We’re coming up on two years with Willard Peak Campground this October, and honestly… that’s just plum crazy. Two whole years. When we stop long enough to really think about it, the feeling isn’t shock—it’s pride.

So, does this make us happy? Yes. But more than that, it makes us feel accomplished. It tells us we showed up, stayed committed, and built something steady in a lifestyle that’s known for constant movement. And truth be told, we’ll likely be here for a couple more years. Not because we’re stuck—but because we’re strategic.

We’ve got some big, expensive goals ahead of us before hitting the road full-time again. And let’s be real for a moment—if we could just STOP buying other people RVs and focus on getting one for ourselves, that would be great. Yikes. True story.

Our poor beast has done its duty, but it’s tired. Very tired. And the need for a bigger kitchen is officially non-negotiable. This next RV purchase isn’t impulsive or emotional—it’s intentional. We’re taking it seriously because it has to support the next chapter of our RV life, not limit it.

That’s also why summer 2025 is such a big deal for us. I’ll be heading over to Montpelier Creek KOA Journey as their summer manager, allowing us to double our income and fast-track our long-term goals. It’s not glamorous, but it’s smart—and sometimes RV life is about discipline more than sunsets.

For now, we’re going to pause. Add some photos. Sit with this milestone. Two years of growth, learning, mistakes, laughs, and perseverance. Then we’ll come back and break it all down—numbers, plans, and what comes next.

One thing’s for sure: we’re proud of how far we’ve come, and we’re not done yet.

Yesterday was a great day in general. Sure we had to be workamping for the day, but the weather was perfect, the campers all seemed to be in a extra GREAT mood and by golly, the pet owners were using the new dog poop stations we just recently put up. 

What made it extra special for me, was the package that I received from a subscriber who was a past client of mine back in Idaho. Gosh, I've known Carolynn for years now. So to get a package to our job site was exciting and shocking at the same

So what was in the package? Hold on already..... Back in the day, we used to own two companies. We used to own a cleaning company (I miss the clients and just a couple of the employees). Seems like a life ago. And we also owned a pet sitting company - now that was fun. I loved all the furry babies and the hooman parents. We do miss that company GREATLY. Well, Carolynn was both clients. Oh my gosh her fur babies are something else. 

I'm proud that our BEST employee Alicia took over the pet sitting business and 1/2 of the cleaning company over when we decided QUALITY of life is better living than QUANTITY of life. NO REGRETS, except for the other 1/2 of the company of who we gave to.  What a shame and disappointment she turned out to be.

I absolutely love, love, love, love, love, them. I've always been a huge fan of BOBS from Skechers, but it goes beyond that. Back when I started my pet sitting business I was looking for a uniform of sorts to wear while pet sitting. And the animal print shoes are so wicked cool. The winning factor though for me was that Skechers has donated more than $6.6 million to help save animal lives that are forced to live in shelters across the USA and Canada (1.2 million shelter pets). They also donate shoes to hooman children. This company has my loyalty and deep love.

I had these ones too, hint hint these are on sale now. Grab them while you can. I'm waiting for some major BEAR ones to be designed lol. 

The reason why these are so beyond extra special to me is not only from who they came from, but they came at a great time. I don't have many shoes at all, because well, living in an RV kind of hinders the shoe space for us, but right now our budget doesn't allow for frills. All and any extra money we can get, is going towards fixing up our RV. I've always said this and was always taught this. Our homes should always make a paycheck for us and man it's gonna be a LONG while before we reach that goal. I'm not complaining by any means, in fact I am grateful for anything we do in life. It's been an adventure for sure.

As Workampers, we do get two days off. We get to do whatever we want to. And with the recent increase in gas prices, we are being forced to bunker down and stay as close to home as possible. So what do we do, we volunteer Marks services to do some improvements to our summer spot. Which by the way is the first site you encounter upon arrival here, at the Holiday Hills RV Park. We have the coolest boss ever. Mr Allen Bell said, we could use the mulch he had. And with permission granted, off went Mark to do his magic.

Happy almost summer

We are loving our experience here in Coalville, Utah - we absolutely love Utah in general. We have seen so much already in the short time span that we've been here. But unfortunately like most, we have to keep local and not venture out so much due to the gas prices being what they are right now. It's $5.01 at our gas station Phillips 66 here at the RV park and we are not the most expensive one in this town either. And it's going to get worse so we are worried. 

So to end this post on a high note. Mark fixing one of the million of things on our must get done before Oct 1st. 

RV Window Ugliness

 Yesterday, I LOST it... As I may have mentioned a couple of blog articles ago, we have an RV Maintenance list longer than my leg with a budget the length of my arm. Baby step reminders are in order here. While Mark was out and about, working in the RV Park, that we are at for this summer workamping, the Holiday Hills RV Park in Coalville, Utah. I took full advantage of his departure of the day. I went and ripped these ugly buggers OUT.

So the above picture is the UGLY I was talking about. Not our color scheme and it's over 20+ years old, which comes with smell, wear and tear and just plain UGLY. Oh, lets really dive into it. See the blinds next to the open window? Sun damage warped blinds, (no fault to the previous owners at all, it's just time worked against these buggers, as well as the heat damage from constant sun bleeking on them).

Wow, more light coming in now?

I could feel my heart racing as I was beating the clock. I wanted to see if Mark, when he arrived home, would notice right away the differences. I've got to say, two different screws were used to install them and some of them were damaged and most difficult to remove, (plus, I stole hubs tools lol).  But golly joe, I started making progress as you can see from the picture. 

Now we can can compare before and after now!

There is a tinge of excitement going on - however running the old, yucky, UGLY material out the door was a funny challenge. Strings hanging everywhere and just awkwardly stumbling down the stairs like a child who is afraid of getting caught doing something naughty. But it's all gone. And now, I have to wait to get the paint (black for the window frames) and peelable wallpaper for the walls and definitely touch ups on the frames of the slide-out. So much to do, with so little budget to go towards this yet. But the DEMO was FREE!!

So the deed is done and now that it's been 24 hours, I am screaming inside to wallpaper or paint. I already have in mind the window treatment I am going with. Creative and easy to change out whenever I want to change them, (and I will). But sitting here typing this out,  looking to the right and I see WHAT? A dirty window... Yup, now I need to log off so that I can wash all the inside windows. All that ugliness was hiding dirty windows. Can I ever win? Well, off to "window" dream shop. I'm hoping Mark will be pumping extra propane here at the park to pay for my upcoming improvements. Slow and Steady wins the race. 

Who ever said owning a second hand RV was going to be easy? Actually, it hasn't been too bad. We know what we have to do but we just need to pace and steady it out. 

Workamping Summer Season for US

 May 1st was the official start date for our 2022 workamping season. And this summer we choose to work for the Holiday Hills RV Park located in Coalville, Utah.  

Holiday Hills RV Park is located in Coalville, Utah just off I-80 at exit 162. Our RV Park is rated with both the Family Motor Coach Association and The Good Sam Club. We are 40 miles east of Salt Lake City. If you are coming from the east, we are 38 miles west of Evanston, Wyoming on I-80.

A river runs past us with some of the best fly fishing in Utah. The nearby Union Pacific rail trail provides hiking and biking through the valley and into neighboring Park City (host to the 2002 winter olympics).

It's been great so far. But it feels like fall/winter still. We'll have a relatively warm day and then a couple of wicked cold days. So summer temps are NOT here yet. It's beautiful for sure here. We are 3 hours in each direction from destination locations (which is perfect for our days off).

The mountains in Utah are AMAZING

Observatory Park is the newest addition to Weber County’s parks portfolio. Observatory Park is an ongoing reclamation project, transforming 72 acres of open space                                    

We are getting formula with the area, and slowly meeting the locals and truly have fallen in love with our campers. There is definitely enough work to keep us busy all summer (for sure).  We each have our responsibilities to ensure a successful summer. Mark takes care of the landscaping by doing all the water systems, cutting grass (that itself takes 2 days), escorting our campers to their sites, fills up propane tanks (today alone he did 100 gallons - woot), light maintenance when needed, helps folks with their rv's (and that is most appreciated by them), showerhouses/laundry room/and cabin upkeep. Now I get the fun stuff, l work the reservations end of the job and help Mark with what I can.
