Backroads to Evanston Wyoming

Backroads to  Evanston Wyoming

We took the backroad to Evanston, Wyoming not knowing how long or what we would find. It took us a long while because we found so many cool things along the way. Bear River City - population is under 1000 people (I believe the cattle outnumber the human by the 1000's.) Aspen Tunnel - is a tunnel in Wyoming and has an elevation of 7575 feet. The Aspen Tunnel is situated nearby to Altamont Tunnel, and north of Aspen Mountain. Piedmont Ghost Town - a ghost town located in Unita County, Wyoming, United States. It was once a thriving small railroad and timber town, but started to decline when Union Pacific opened a new line that bypassed the town.

Piedmont Charcoal Kilns State Historic Site - Charcoal Kilns in Piedmont, Wyoming, are a remnant of a once-extensive charcoal-making industry in southwestern Wyoming. The kilns were built by Moses Byrne around 1869 near the Piedmont Station along the Union Pacific Railroad

The Southwest Wyoming wind energy facility - is on ranch land currently used for cattle grazing. Agricultural activities take place directly adjacent to the wind turbine foundation pads. The site, located in Uinta County, approximately 10 miles northeast of Evanston, has 80 Vestas V80, 1.8 MW wind turbines Add in Butch Cassidy bank robbery history and you have yourself a full day on a simple but not so simple back road to Evanston, Wyoming.
