Christmas looks a little different when your home has wheels—but the heart behind the season stays the same.
This year, Me Gone RVing Adventures decided to slow things down and lean into something simple, meaningful, and deeply personal. Mark is reading one Christmas book each night, and after each reading, we’re giving that very book away FREE as our way of giving back through Christmas Eve.
The featured Christmas book we’re currently sharing is written by Julia Wilson & Margaret Gibson and beautifully illustrated by Ester Kasepuu. It’s the kind of book that invites children to pause, listen, imagine, and feel the warmth of the season—something that feels especially important in a world that often moves too fast.
After each reading, the book is placed in a new location for another family to discover, take home, and enjoy. No cost. No strings attached. Just a story passed from one heart to another.
Why We’re Doing This
We believe in giving back—but not everyone’s way of giving has to be grand, loud, or expensive. Sometimes, giving back looks like sitting down, opening a book, and sharing a moment of calm with a child.
If we can make one child smile, spark curiosity, or create a memory that sticks—that’s success to us.
Because we’re RVers, we cross paths with families constantly. Campgrounds, parks, rest stops, small towns—we meet people from everywhere. Stories are a universal language, and books have a way of connecting people without needing much explanation.
This project is our way of staying connected to families we may only meet for a moment but hope to impact in a lasting way.
Reading on the Road: A Gift That Travels
RV life teaches you that memories matter more than things. And reading together—especially during the holidays—creates memories that don’t need batteries, Wi-Fi, or screens.
We film each reading and share updates so families can follow along and find out where the next book will be placed. Whether you’re traveling, workamping, or rooted in one place this season, we hope this inspires you to pause and share a story with the kids in your life.
3 RV-Friendly Kids Books Perfect for the Road
If you’re traveling with children—or grandkids—here are three kid-approved, RV-friendly book picks that travel well and create meaningful moments:
1. “Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site” by Sherri Duskey Rinker
Perfect for winding down after a day of adventure. Rhythmic, soothing, and ideal for small RV spaces when it’s time to quiet the energy.
2. “Little Blue Truck Christmas” by Alice Schertle
A holiday favorite that mixes kindness, friendship, and vehicles—always a hit with kids in RV parks and campgrounds.
3. “The Night Before Christmas” (Any illustrated edition)
A classic that never gets old. Great for reading aloud, especially when Christmas looks different but still feels magical.
Staying Connected Through Stories
RV life can feel fleeting. You meet wonderful people, share laughs, and then move on. This project gives us a way to leave something behind—a story, a smile, a memory.
Books don’t expire. They don’t break. And they carry love from one family to the next.
To find all the locations of our nightly readings and book placements, follow along with our videos and updates through Me Gone RVing Adventures. Whether you’re watching from another RV, a house, or somewhere in between—we’re grateful you’re part of this journey.
From our RV to yours,
from one family to another,
from one child’s smile to the next—
Merry Christmas. 🎄📚✨
